Join a channel

There are two types of channels you can join: public and private channels. Public channels are listed in the channel list on the main screen and marked with a green P box.

  1. To join a public channel, select it in the channel list, or enter its name in the Search field.

To refresh the channel list, click Refresh channels.

  1. To join a private channel, click Browse channels.

  1. In the Join channel pane, select a channel, or enter its name/pubkey in the Search field.

To refresh the channel list, click Refresh channels.

  1. To submit a request to join the selected channel, click Request to join.

  1. Enter your nickname in the Member name field.

  1. Click Join channel.

  2. After the request to join has been successfully submitted, you will see a confirmation message.

  1. Until you are authorized, all messages in the chat will appear scrambled, and you will see a spinner next to the channel name.

  1. Once you are authorized, you will see a notification and be able to view the messages in the channel.
